The Project
The NbS‑CoBAs scale is an instrument to measure the co‑benefits of nature‑based solutions (NbS) in urban public spaces. It was initially developed within the European Horizon project called CLEVER‑Cities and later refined under another European LIFE project, Urban Klima 2050, led by IHOBE. Urban Klima 2050 is currently the largest climate action project in the Basque Country, with one of its core pillars being the study of the health-related co‑benefits of natural elements, measured using the NbS‑CoBAs scale.
This scale has been validated twice: first by an expert panel using the Delphi method, and second through a broad in‑situ assessment at eight urban and peri‑urban sites.
Nevertheless, ongoing application is needed to better understand and advance knowledge of the psychosocial benefits of naturalizing these and other urban spaces, and this requires the participation of the users of those places.
